BIO:  Barry Williamson

Barry was born in Belfast in 1943 and spent his early years in Derry. Fascinated with painting at an early age he first showed his paintings there and had his first show in the Molesworth Gallery in Dublin in 1966. Later that same year he exhibited in the Oireactas, the prestigious National Art Exhibition, in 1967 with the Royal Hibernian Academy and in the Royal Ulster Academy exhibitions in 1970. However, he chose to develop a career in management and human resources and created his own human resource consultancy in London 1984 and helped found the Oxford Development Partnership consultancy in 2000. His consultancy work has given him the opportunity to live in many parts of the world including Greece, Kuwait and the Arab Emirates and to explore their cultures. Having retired in 2005 he returned home to live in Coleraine and focus on his art work. In recent years he has had shows in the Waterfront Hall and the Flowerfield Art Centre in Portstewart. Although primarily a painter of still life he has recently started to explore the wonderful rugged coastal scenery of the North Coast and he regularly travels to the USA to study painting technique with some of the top realist painters in the USA such as David Leffel, Sherrie McGraw and Greg Kreutz. His work appears in collections all over the U.K. and in many parts of the USA.
