BIO: Sorca O'Farrell
Currently my work reflects a direct emotional response to my surroundings; an immediate, emotive and contact driven reaction to the landscape through which I walk. I aim to capture the feeling, atmosphere and moods of the cliff paths of Howth .I do this by building up areas of textured darkness with marks in charcoal and ink, in contrast to areas of light ,rubbing away and building to create a layered ,visual and deeply felt description of the landscape around me”As well as featuring in many private collections, Sorca’s work is included in many corporate and public collections ,including the National Gallery of Ireland. Her work has been bought for the AIB collection,(by Dr Frances Ruane) and also for Trinity College Dublin(by Professor Anne Crookshank). She recently completed a portrait for The Office of Public Works, and has had work included in the RHA annual exhibition(2015,2016)
