BIO: Millie Moore
More Millie Moore is a contemporary artist living and working in Banbridge, Co Down.
Since graduating in 2013 from the University of Ulster with a First Class Honours degree she has continued to develop her practice which is informed by an experience of and respect for the natural environment. Solitary walking in the rural landscape frees her to wander at will observing and marvelling at the cycle of seasons, questioning the history of place. Millie is aware of nuances in light, the intricacies of pattern and the wonder of colour. Her charcoal drawings and oil paintings border on abstraction, in them duality of past and present is inherent through traces of the drawing tool, veiled with thin glazed of oil paint and drawing marks often reconfirmed on the surface.
The Arts Council of Northern Ireland and the University of Ulster hold Millie’s work in their collections. On graduating she was the recipient of the John & Rachel Turner Bursary and the Carson McDowell Solicitors Award. More recently Millie has received the Arts Council of Northern Ireland SIAP awards in 2015 and 2017.
