BIO: Judith Logan
While Judith also paints from life, mainly in oils, over the past few years she has been concentrating on developing a more personal style: a fusion of figurative, folk art, naive and at times, abstract, genres where both a narrative and decorative approach are equally important. The landscape and nature have always been a strong source of inspiration for her art, while lately, the figure, in particular woman, plays a significant role. The numerous roles she plays in today`s world, her strengths, weaknesses, fears, joys and sorrows are a constant influence, as is her ever growing love of vintage/retro objects and patterns. 10 years spent in Chile, where she worked and began raising her young family have undoubtedly been a significant influence also, and the struggle between her love for two countries can sometimes be seen in her work. She works in a variety of media, although oils, watercolours and lately, coloured pencil are her preferred choice. Experimentation is important to her development as an artist and printmaking is a discipline which she hopes to investigate further. To date, her artwork has been sold successfully in Chile and several galleries in N.Ireland. Commissions include artwork for Nathan Jess`CD album, Love Stands Forever, an illustration for a book, by Australian author,Kasia James, entitled The Milk of Female Kindness- An Anthology of Honest Motherhood, currently available on Amazon and Createspace, and paintings for Slemish House Luxury Spa. Some of her original work is also available as artist quality giclée prints and art
