BIO: Roxanne Fitzmaurice
Roxanne's work depicts the Irish Landscape, but not as a snapshot of a place, it is the translation and interpretations of being in a beautiful environment worth documenting. She is in the present, looking back on something, that has changed in an instant. The work evokes the heart of the place, it is as much about the wind that moves the grass, as the grass itself. Roxanne was born in Co. Wicklow and lives and works in Dublin. She studied Fine Art at DIT Dublin and after Graduation went on to study for a year at NCAD "I work from the landscape, making field trips filling sketchbooks and working back in the studio from these drawings and photographs. My current and previous Solo Exhibitions 'Waters Edge', captures this fragile, changeable environment, mingling my own responses and feeling into the painting. The surface is sometimes thick with paint, counter balanced with areas of whimsical brushstroke to create a surface that remains vibrant, evoking the endless orchestra of our natural environment."My 'place of clear water' the first hill in the world where springs washed into the shiny grass" Seamus Heaney. From the poem Anahorish.
